Hickory – Today, Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10) released the following statement announcing his intention to run for reelection in North Carolina’s Tenth Congressional District which includes his home in Denver, NC.
“Like so many North Carolinians, I’ve spent the last few weeks monitoring the drawing of our state’s new Congressional, State House, and State Senate maps. Throughout the process, I’ve been absolutely disgusted by the actions of the activist Democrat judges who have embarrassed our state. They have shredded our state’s Constitution, taken control of this process away from the NC General Assembly–who has handled it for our state’s entire history–and instead empowered unaccountable academic elites who are funded by Eric Holder and his mega donor friends. While this process has been an affront to our state’s history and the good people who call NC home, it is the unfortunate reality we face.
“In light of this, today I am proud to announce that I will be running for reelection in North Carolina’s Tenth Congressional District which includes my home in Lincoln County. I am excited to run in this latest version of the Tenth District which combines many of the communities here in western North Carolina that have traditionally been a part of NC-10.
“This version of NC-10 includes my home county of Lincoln as well as Catawba and Iredell Counties which I currently represent. It also includes parts of Gaston County where I grew up and all or parts of Burke, Caldwell, Cleveland, and Rutherford Counties which I’ve represented previously. In the days ahead, I look forward to getting to know the good people of Alexander County who now call NC-10 home as well.
“This area of western North Carolina is defined by our shared conservative values and love for country. In the days ahead, I will be making the case to my neighbors here in NC-10 why I’m the best person to represent our shared values in Washington.
“This November’s election is hugely important throughout our state and nation. In North Carolina, we must defend our Republican majorities in the General Assembly and throw out the Democrat activists on the Supreme Court. Nationally, we need to fire Nancy Pelosi once and for all and restore a conservative House majority that will help stop the Biden Administration’s disastrous policies. I look forward to being a part of this November’s coming Republican wave.”
Under the new Congressional maps approved by the three judge panel, the latest version of North Carolina’s Tenth Congressional District includes all or parts of Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, and Rutherford Counties.
Patrick is fighting for you in Washington to protect your Second Amendment rights, work for small businesses in our District and across the nation, and bring your voice to Congress.
