Congressman Patrick McHenry, the House Chief Deputy Whip, won re-election tonight over his Democratic opponent by a wide margin. With almost all the precincts reporting in the eight counties that make up the 10th District—McHenry was leading with 62%.

“I’d like to thank the people of western North Carolina for allowing me to continue to serve as their voice in Washington. Representing the Tenth District in Congress is a high honor and I’m humbled by the support I’ve received from my fellow North Carolinians. Special thanks to all the volunteers whose dedicated work over the last year have made tonight possible.

“Now it is time to get back to work. Middle class wages have stagnated and Obamacare is crumbling. We must level the playing field for middle class families and small businesses. We must restore our Constitution and the checks and balances of government that have been degraded.

“House Republicans know there is a better way. With the American people re-electing a conservative House majority, we can begin to undo the damage done over the past eight years and–most importantly–we can improve the lives of all Americans.”
